Minuteman missiles use transistorized computers to repeatedly calculate their position in flight. The pc needed to be rugged and quick, with advanced circuit design and dependable packaging capable of withstand the forces of a missile launch. The army’s high requirements for its transistors pushed producers to enhance quality control. When the Minuteman I was decommissioned, some universities received these computers for use by college students.
